One of the most crucial steps in washing your hair extensions is applying conditioner. This step is by far one of the most important because it will help to soften, hydrate and moisture the hair.
Conditioners will leave your hair stronger, and will allow you to have your hair extensions for a long time. But how do you select the right conditioner you may ask, well there are three main types of conditions on the market. So, whatever your hair needs may be, feel free to select from the list below.
How to pick the right hair conditioner
-
Deep conditioner – if your extensions are relatively damaged, tangled or matted then using a deep conditioning treatment could make such a big difference. What a deep conditioner does as the name suggests is to deeply treat and repair your hair. To do this properly, firstly ensure you have cleansed the hair with shampoo (this will remove product build up) then coat the hair from roots to tip with a moderate amount of deep conditioner or hair mask. Leave the product on for about 15 to 30 minutes. Optional: detangle the hair with a wide tooth comb then proceed to wash out the product. This will surely leave your hair detangled and pillow soft.
-
Leave in conditioner – a conditioner is widely known to leave your hair extensions feeling extremely soft and irresistible, so if you love this feeling too and want to keep it even after wash day then a leave in conditioner is perfect for you. A leave in conditioner is typically much lighter than a regular conditioner; therefore, you can use it worry-free since it wont cause any product build-up due to its lightweight formula.
- Regular (Rinse-Out) conditioner – these are by far the most popular type of conditioners on the market, and you can surely grab one from your local beauty supply or anywhere that sells hair products. Just be sure to check the ingredients to ensure that the product is free from harsh products. To apply, be sure to coat the hair from roots to ends, and as directed by the instructions on the product be sure to leave the conditioner on the hair for the recommended time. Then rinse thoroughly.
