Let’s be honest, we all wish we could just roll out of bed and have flawless hair. Well thankfully, that dream isn’t too far away, and down below we have formulated a few tips on how to care for your hair extensions during the nighttime.
Nighttime Hair care advice:
- A great way to protect your hair extensions during the night is by reducing friction. Therefore, if you are wearing a sew-in or you have had a wig glued on to your head, then you should be sure to use a silk scarf when going to bed. Its smooth, silky texture will undoubtedly help your hairstyle to be well kept while you toss and turn in your sleep.
- When styling your hair overnight, we highly recommend using lightweight products such as an oil, preferably argan oil or a lightweight serum, a moisturizing curling cream or a mousse, if necessary. Keep in mind, these products should be used in moderation in order to prevent product build-up.
- Creating a proper nighttime hair routine will not only allow your hair extensions to look soft and healthy when you wake up, but will also extend its longevity. This simply means that you will be able to have your hair extensions for a long time, if you ensure that during night you take proper care of them.
- If you are ever thinking of going for a nighttime swim or simply thinking of getting your entire head wet in the night, you should NEVER go to bed with soaking wet hair extensions. This will cause your hair to get matted and will likely cause it to be very difficult to untangle; therefore, if you wash your hair before bed or simply get your hair wet, be sure to leave enough time for your hair to air dry. If you are unable to do this, use a soft towel in order to soak up as much water as possible, wrap your hair with a silk scarf and use a satin pillowcase while sleeping.
