by Brooklyn Hair 13 Sep 2019

For women, studies show that our hair is the first thing we look at when we look into the mirror. There is an emotional tie to the strands that we wear on our head and it plays a major role in how we perceive ourselves.

That being said, when wearing hair extensions, we need to know how to buy hair bundles correctly so that we have enough to look our best.

When you buy hair bundles, you need to know the correct amount of bundles, the length, and the grade of hair you should be wearing.

If you're not a hairstylist, how do you know how many bundles of hair you should get?

Keep on reading to learn how to buy hair bundles correctly, so you can look fabulous!

How Many Bundles Do You Need?

The amount of hair bundles that you need to purchase is dependant upon a few different variables, we will cover these determinants so that you are well prepared.

Type of Hair

The type of hair you select will help to determine the number of hair bundles that you should purchase because some grades are measured differently than others. As a rule of thumb, the lower the grade of hair, the more bundles you should purchase because the lower grades tend to have fewer and thinner strands.

It is essential that you know where to buy bundles that are of the highest quality, otherwise you could end up in a hair emergency when you're trying to style your hair. Look for an extension distributor that offers a guarantee on their product, then you're in the safe zone.

Texture of Hair

Before you buy hair bundles, ask yourself if you want curly or straight hair. Straight hair is much less dense than curly hair, so if you desire a straight look, you will need more bundles.

Remember that you're not stuck with these extensions forever, you can switch them up just like Beyonce

Length of Hair

Another important determinant for when you buy hair bundles is knowing the length that you want. Most hair bundles come between 3.5 to 4 ounces, however, if it's over 18 inches, that means that the weight is in the length and not the width.

This means that the longer the hair, the more bundles you should buy. Keep in mind that you may want to purchase hair a bit longer than you think you need. When they're installed on your head, you'll need to have them cut and blended which will shorten the length of the hair.

Hairstyle Preference

If you prefer a fuller hair look, then you will need to buy 3 or 4 bundles to achieve that full and thick style. If you prefer a thinner, more tamed hairstyle, then you will only need about 2 to 3 hair bundles.
