When taking care of kinky hair textures, whether it’s an afro kinky texture or a kinky straight hair texture, the washing method will be of utmost importance.
Therefore, down below we have listed a few steps that may help you to properly wash your kinky hair textures so that they may last for as long as possible.
Steps on washing kinky textures:
-
Pre-poo: This is a critical step since it helps you to get your kinky hair extensions ready for the full washing process. So, what is Pre-Pooing you may ask?
Well pre-pooing is the process of prepping and pretreating your hair extensions with conditioner in order to protect it from the harsh effects of using a shampoo. Next you should use a wide tooth comb and begin to detangle any small knots that you notice on your hair extension. This will surely help to make the next step much easier.
-
Shampoo: After pre-pooing, you can then begin to apply a light coat of shampoo onto the hair. Apply the shampoo into the palms of your hands, then move from roots to tip ensuring that you evenly distribute adequate shampoo all over.
Note: be sure to thoroughly rinse the shampoo from the hair.
-
Conditioner: Next up pour a moderate amount of conditioner in to the palm of your hands, then gently rake the product throughout the hair with your fingers.
Since kinky textures tend to be a bit thicker than many other hair textures, it is important that you refrain from excessively rubbing and scrubbing the hair. Allow adequate time for the conditioner to remain on the hair, then proceed to rinse the product from the hair. Let hair air dry.
